If a last year model is not sold by the end of the year, ALL rebates and incentives for that vehicle are gone. So, you can see that dealers are anxious to move those cars now. We still have a 2005 model on the ground in the 2007 model year selling season. It is going to be impossible to sell it now. The dealership will have to make a decision to take a hit to get rid of it. You talk about depreciate when you drive off the lot. An immediate 2 year depreciation. It is a $32000 vehicle that will probably be worth $15000 when taken across the curb. WOW!
You need to think about the price difference between 2006 and 2007 models to see if you are better off paying more to get a newer model. In some cases you are. In some cases there are huge rebates, or will be huge rebates and incentives to take last years model. Check your new car quotes at Yahoo to see what you should be paying for your car, truck, or SUV.
