Using advanced propulsion technologies General Motors is going to introduce strong hybrid powertrain to sport utility vehicles. Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with GM's gas-electric hybrid powertrain will debut in 2007. The car would feature Displacement on Demand cylinder deactivation technology which will improve fuel economy by 30%.
GM is also producing parallel hybrid trucks. According to Larry Burns, vice president, Research & Development and Planning, “The advanced technology race is a marathon, not a sprint,” . GM is also into development of hydrogen fuel cells.
